Where it started
True Log Homes was founded in 1975 by Jim Maushak in Deming, Washington. The company is in its second generation. Jim’s son, Jesse Maushak, has been operating True Log for nearly a decade, and the shop is now in Grangeville, Idaho.
A True Log Home is not a kit stamped out of a catalogue. Our focus blended with your vision produces the best possible result — whether that is a log gazebo, a tiny log cabin, or a rustic mountain ski lodge. We have been doing this long enough to tell you honestly which of those three you are actually asking for.

How we cut a log
With our handcrafted style of log home building, we use the fully rounded characteristics of each log. That ensures the finished log house or log cabin is a one-of-a-kind piece of work. Our handcrafted, hand-hewn style of production is performed by skilled artisans using saws, chisels and other hand tools. We believe building with traditional authenticity and old fashioned hard work is what makes a True Log Home stand out.
We also offer milled and lathed log homes and log cabins. That style can be a budget-friendly solution paired with the same quality. Our Swedish-coped round logs, stacked up perfectly symmetrical, produce a satisfyingly uniform log wall, and many of those projects are given rustic character-log accents. We can also provide log work for a post and beam project.

The Buffalo Range
The 1,796 square foot Buffalo Range features three bedrooms, a bonus room and two bathrooms. It is all on one level and it really does have it all — curb appeal, functionality and charm. This one can be built using the handcrafted traditional method or our uniform lathe-log style. Regardless of which log style you choose, you get a practical and graceful log home.
Most people do not build the Buffalo Range as drawn. They start from it. We use it as a starting point and customise to the family’s needs.

Where the logs come from
Located about an hour and a half from McCall, Idaho, in the small town of Grangeville, True Log Homes sits right in the heart of a steady supply of Idaho timber. We source our logs from dead-standing trees and well-managed, sustainable forests, and our process of hand-choosing each log keeps waste to a minimum.
We can design, build and ship log homes and custom log cabin kits to Idaho, Washington, Montana, Colorado and Utah — or effectively any location a truck can reach.
