Excavation and site work
A stable, level base is the first step in any project, whether it is a driveway, a road or a new building. Without a good foundation nothing you put on top of it stands up to a Northwoods winter. We prepare commercial, residential and government sites across northeastern Wisconsin for buildings, roads, driveways and parking lots — mass grading for site development, controlled compacted fill, rough grading and fine grading.

Site clearing of trees, stumps and brush, through to mass grading for development. Northwoods lots are rarely clean — there is usually more stump and more slope under the leaves than the plat suggests. We walk it first and tell you what is actually there before anything moves.

Photograph to come. Two frames from one spot, taken a day apart — stand at the road edge before the first tree comes down, then stand in exactly the same footprints when it is graded. That pair sells clearing work better than any paragraph, and it costs one minute on a job you are doing anyway.
Taking a structure down needs planning, and it needs a plan for the parts that do not go to plan. Before we start we settle the proposed use of the site, utility disconnects, what is being reused, what is being salvaged, how far down the underground demolition goes, who is responsible for temporary facilities, the permits, and the condition the site is handed back in.

New gravel and stone drives, private roads and paths, and rebuilds of drives that have gone soft. On lake lots the drive is usually the part that fails first, because it was cut in without a base and without anywhere for the water to go. We build the base and the drainage together, so the surface has a chance.
If rainwater is causing you a problem, there are two answers and usually you need both: reshape the ground so the water goes somewhere on purpose, and put pipe in so it gets there. We grade for runoff and install drain piping to move water away from a house, a shop, a drive or a low corner of a yard that never dries out.

Photograph to come. The one photograph that wins drainage work is the trench with the pipe in it and the stone around it, taken before it is covered. Nobody can see a finished drainage job, which is exactly why it is worth photographing the middle of one.
Trenching for water, power, sewer and conduit runs, dug to line and depth and backfilled properly. Diggers Hotline gets called at least three working days before we break ground, every time, on every job.
The heavy end of landscaping — shaping ground, moving material, building the grade and the hard structure a planting plan sits on. If a landscaper or an architect has drawn it, we are usually the ones who make the ground match the drawing.

Commercial and residential snow removal, for property managers and for homeowners. In this part of Wisconsin the plough contract and the excavation contract usually want to be the same phone number, because the person who built your drive already knows where its edges are.
